Mobility professionals cannot stop talking about our interactive roundtables at ERC’s India Global Mobility Summit as we discussed the latest trends within the world of mobility in India.

And interactive they were!

Our Client Service Directors, Bonnie Tuen and Helen Pereira, each hosted a roundtable and were both ecstatic about the turnout, the conversations that were had, and intrigued by the trends mobility professionals are experiencing with their mobile India workforce.

The 45 minute sessions flew by with the active discussions; it was a great networking event and educational opportunity.

Our attendees discussed the need for a formal, structured domestic India policy as some of the attendees haven’t put this into place just yet.  Others raised concern about how to effectively manage the growing India domestic moves population even with a policy in place.  One of the biggest challenges appeared to be managing costs, while at the same time maintaining a high quality of service.

Another big domestic trend that was discussed is that Indian nationals tend to rely on personal networking for settling-in and word of mouth, which can be challenging because the internal mobility team and the Relocation Management Company might not have full visibility of what advice is provided to the relocating employee. Those who have experienced this trend mentioned that it can be a very complicated and sensitive subject to discuss with employees.

There was also discussion on the effectiveness of using a lump sum or core-flex approach and the advantages and challenges of each.

It was a great opportunity to share our expertise, insights from our Propelling India Mobility research report, and hear from others in our industry.

For more information, our Propelling India Mobility explores the top challenges mobility professionals are facing in managing all thing related to workforce mobility in India.
