In mobility, the biggest challenge isn’t simply coordinating logistics or changing addresses; it’s designing experiences that make life-changing transitions feel positive, supported, and successful.

This was the mission for our major multinational fast-food client, Yum! Brands, whose journey began with relocating a business unit from Louisville, Kentucky to Plano, Texas. But plans evolved fast. What started as a single-location move expanded into a multi-destination, cross-border group relocation, spanning Plano, Irvine, Louisville, the UK, and Canada.

The complexity grew. The stakes grew. And yet, the goal remained the same: to keep every employee and their families at the heart of every decision.

A Human-Centered Solution Powered by Personalized Tools

What made this relocation stand out was the client’s unwavering commitment to their people. Inspired by their people-first mindset, the Yum! mobility team partnered with Weichert to go beyond traditional policy delivery and create a communication ecosystem rooted in clarity, comfort, and connection.

Together, we created a custom group move microsite – an intuitive, one-stop hub that gave employees access to everything they needed, including:

  • Clear policy highlights and step-by-step guides
  • Forms and visual timelines
  • Housing, school, and neighborhood information
  • Local lifestyle insights, from Little League to community amenities

What could have been an overwhelming transition became an empowered, well-supported journey. Through the microsite, employees explored their future communities at their own pace, easily understood their benefits, and found answers fast, without added stress.

When group move destinations unexpectedly expanded from one location to many, the portals were swiftly customized for each market, turning a potentially complex twist into a seamless experience for both the client’s HR team and their relocating talent.

And behind every screen was immediate access to relocation specialists and local experts, ensuring every concern was met with personalized, empathetic guidance.

Turning Uncertainty into Opportunity

To build confidence and connection long before moving day, the client hosted “Know Before You Go” sessions at both origin and destination locations. These in-person gatherings brought all local experts together in one room, making the experience inclusive, collaborative, and deeply human. Recordings extended the support to remote employees and families who couldn’t attend.

“Having all our experts in one room really gave us the chance to be collaborative and ignite authentic dialogue with and among the relocating employees. Everyone had their questions answered and left the session energized and excited about the journey ahead—which was everything we could have hoped for!”

From meticulous logistics planning to long days powered by energy drinks and throwback playlists, the team’s empathy and agility shone through at every turn. Even as the move scaled in complexity, it remained a supportive, community-building experience from beginning to end.

“The culture of your program starts with the team at the helm. Yum! Brands’ people-focused philosophy shines through in the cohesiveness, drive, and infectious enthusiasm of their mobility team. It made them a true joy to partner with, and it’s a driving force behind the strong outcomes of this group move and their thriving mobile talent.”

The Bottom Line

This group move project proved that when targeted technology meets personalized, human-centered support, the impact is transformative. Employees felt informed, cared for, and empowered to make the right decisions for their family. Stress decreased. Engagement increased. And Yum! Brands strengthened a culture where people come first, no matter where their journey leads!

“We have people who were caring for aging parents. We have people who have children with special needs. To make sure they were getting into the right programs, they needed to know what was available once they got there, and feel they could truly transition their lives from one place to another. That’s what I’m most proud of—that we really leaned in to make sure it went well.”
