Fighting Hunger One Move at a Time 05.15.2019 | Morgan E. Wiedmann

We are excited to announce our official partnership with Move For Hunger, a non-profit organization that mobilizes the relocation industry to reduce food waste and fight hunger one move at a time.

They partner with relocation companies across the United States and Canada to collect non-perishable food from people who are moving and donate those items to food banks/pantries.

We are proud to kick off our partnership with Move For Hunger with our significant donation of $10,000.

“I believe that this will be a fantastic addition to Weichert’s current Corporate Social Responsibility efforts and most importantly allow us to do our part to help feed hungry people throughout the U.S.,” said, William Vogt, Director, North American Operations.

The statistics around the food crisis in North America are eye opening and one of the many reasons we are happy to play a pivotal role in solving this issue.

•More than 41 million people in the U.S. are at risk of hunger
•1 in 6 children will go to bed hungry every night
•40% of the food produced in the U.S. is wasted

Move For Hunger’s approach integrates easily and seamlessly into our current business practices, which enables relocating employees to easily choose charitable giving as the preferred option in their move.

Our colleagues at Weichert, known for their willingness to give of their time and efforts to their local communities, are excited about the partnership too.  This relationship is an important part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, known as WeCARE.

“WeCARE is one of the significant and impactful ways we collectively and individually demonstrate that commitment throughout the year to and for the many communities around the world in which we operate. It is not only what we do, it is who we are,” said Chris Brunone, EVP Talent Development and Colleague Engagement.

WeCare is an integral aspect of our Legendary Service ICARE philosophy. Our ICARE philosophy of Legendary Service extends beyond simply being supportive of our transferees and assignees. It is a tangible way we demonstrate our authenticity as a Company, a Company that gives to others in times of change, in times of need, and in times of difficulty.

The giving back does not stop here, through each move and each community event, we will continue to build upon our partnership, encourage our valued suppliers and network partners to join us in the fight against hunger and participate in food drives throughout the year to magnify our WeCARE efforts worldwide.
